Lil Durk is the stage name of Durk Derrick Banks. He’s an American rapper, record producer, singer, and songwriter. Often called “Durkio”, the rapper quickly gained attention thanks to his various music projects. Among some of the many genres that he excels in are a drill, hip hop, R&B, and trap. Apart from his very successful solo career, Durk is known for being the founder and lead member of his own record label and collective – Only the Family, which also features many other names such as King Von, Hypno Carlito, and DJ Bandz to name a few.
He was born on October 19, 1992, in Chicago, Illinois. Because his father was incarcerated when he was 7 months old, Durk had to learn responsibility and find ways of income at a very young age. At one point, he joined social media platforms such as Myspace and YouTube, where he was able to experiment and learn more about rapping.
