About Trent Reznor
It was stated in April 2010 that Reznor has created a new band called How to Destroy Angels with his wife, Mariqueen Maandig, and Atticus Ross. The band was named after the song “How to Destroy Angels.” On June 1, 2010, the band made its self-titled EP available for digital download, and on July 6, 2010, it was made available for purchase in retail outlets. They performed a version of the song “Is Your Love Strong Enough?” by Bryan Ferry is featured on the soundtrack for “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” which was made available for purchase on December 9, 2011.
Reznor was born on May 17, 1965, in New Castle, Pennsylvania, the son of Nancy Lou (née Clark) and Michael Reznor. Reznor is a member of the band Nine Inch Nails. He is of German and Irish origin, and he was raised in Mercer, which is located in Pennsylvania.
In 1884, his great-great-grandfather, George Reznor, established the Reznor Company as a manufacturer of heating and air conditioning equipment. When he was 12 years old, he started learning how to play the piano, and he shown an early talent for music.
On September 21, 2012, Trent Reznor made the announcement that the band’s next release would be an extended play (EP) titled An Omen EP, which was scheduled for release on Columbia Records in November 2012, and that some of the songs from the EP would later appear on the band’s first full-length album, which was scheduled to be released in 2013.
They released “Keep it Together,” a song and music video from the An Omen EP on October 8, 2012. “Keep it Together” was part of the release. While he was still in high school, Reznor became a member of the local band Option 30 and performed with them three times per week. He attended college for one year before deciding to leave to pursue a career in music in Cleveland, Ohio instead. It was a cover band called the Urge that he played in for the first time in Cleveland.
Reznor joined The Innocent in 1985 as a keyboardist; the band only recorded one album, titled Livin’ in the Street, before Reznor parted ways with the group after only three months. In 1986, he became a member of the local band Exotic Birds, and in 1987, he starred in the movie Light of Day with them in the role of a fake band named The Problems. During this time period, Reznor was also a member of the band Slam Bamboo and contributed piano work. He was a member of the new wave band Lucky Pierre for a short while.
The album Pretty Hate Machine was first released in 1989 and achieved a level of economic success that was sufficient to earn it a gold certification in 1992. Reznor began surreptitiously recording under a variety of pseudonyms to avoid interference from his record label while he was under intense pressure from his record label to deliver a follow-up album to Pretty Hate Machine. The end result was an EP that was titled Broken (1992). In the summer of 1991, Nine Inch Nails participated in the Lollapalooza tour. In 1993, the band won a Grammy Award for “Best Heavy Metal Performance” for the song “Wish”.
Pigface released their debut album, Gub, in 1991. On the tune “Suck” which was included on the album, Trent Reznor provided the vocals. Steve Albini was responsible for the album’s production. Portrait of an American Family, Marilyn Manson’s debut studio album, was produced by him in 1994. In 1999, the double album known as The Fragile was made available to the public. It was successful to some extent, but it resulted in a financial loss for Reznor’s record company; consequently, he paid for the North American Fragility Tour out of his own personal funds. After that much more time had passed, Nine Inch Nails eventually issued their subsequent album, titled With Teeth. In the time that passed between the two albums, Reznor checked himself into treatment for his substance abuse problems and emerged able to control them. In 1998, Reznor produced a remix of “Victory” a song originally performed by The Notorious B.I.G. and featured Busta Rhymes. Reznor worked closely with Danny Lohner, Maynard James Keenan, and Atticus Ross for the better part of a decade under the moniker Tapeworm; nevertheless, the project was finally scrapped before any official music was issued. There are only two pieces of Tapeworm music that have been officially released: a reworked version of a track called “Vacant” (retitled “Passive”) on A Perfect Circle’s album eMOTIVe, which was released in 2004, and a track called “Potions” on Puscifer’s album “C” Is for, which was released in 2009.
Due to the fact that the song “Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X substantially sampled the 2008 Nine Inch Nails instrumental piece “34 Ghosts IV” Reznor was given a songwriting credit for his work on the song by Lil Nas X in 2019. In April of 2019, it climbed to the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100, with both Reznor and Ross gaining credit for their contributions as songwriters and producers. The song would eventually go on to become the one that spent the most amount of time at number one on the list, which was a record 19 weeks. Reznor agreed to allow the sample to be used and voiced his support for the song, but he denied an invitation to appear in the music video.
