Who Is Kelly Osbourne
Kelly Osbourne may have been born into one of rock’s first families, but she was hardly born with a silver spoon in her mouth. A childhood in the shadow of her father’s wild rock ‘n’ roll antics and her eccentric family’s exploits threatened to unhorse this budding personality, but she wants to show the world that her talent and style make her a star in her own right.
British media personality Kelly Osbourne has a net worth of $20 million dollars, as of 2020.
Fame And Family
Kelly Michelle Lee Osbourne was born into rock royalty in London. Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne raised their children on the road, and their youngest daughter lived in more than 20 homes between the U.S. and the U.K. during her childhood. She also had to deal with her parents’ longtime drug and alcohol addictions throughout her turbulent youth; Ozzy checked himself into rehab a day after his daughter was born, but his struggles continued and had an enormous affect on his family.
In at attempt at stability, the family put down their roots in Los Angeles in 1995 and Osbourne’s teenage years were shared with millions of viewers on the breakout celebreality hit The Osbournes. The show debuted in 2002, and family quickly became pop culture icons, known for their potty mouths and their strangely normal suburban lives. After winning an Emmy for Outstanding Reality Series, the Osbournes shut their door in 2005, and the family moved on to pursue other projects.
Osbourne released her first single in 2002, a cover of Madonna‘s ‘Papa Don’t Preach.’ Her debut album, Shut Up!, was met with tepid reviews and failed to perform in the U.S., resulting in Osbourne getting booted from her record label. She hit another low in 2004 when she checked in to the famous Promises rehab to battle her addiction to painkillers, but she quickly completed treatment and found her way back to the limelight.
By the end of 2005, Osbourne had released another album, starred on the ABC drama Life As We Know It, and released a punk rock clothing line called Stiletto Killers. She briefly relapsed and returned to rehab after Life was canceled, but emerged just in time to enjoy the success of her sophomore album, Sleeping in the Nothing. She returned to television in 2006 when she hosted the British installment of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, and followed up with another hosting gig on Sky One’s Project Catwalk.
From Troubled Teen To Fashion Icon
In 2007, the formerly chubby Osbourne shocked British audiences when she debuted a svelte new figure for her portrayal of Mama Morton in a West End performance of Chicago. After debuting her dancing skills overseas, she brought them to the U.S. to compete on the reality hit Dancing With the Stars following a brief stint back in rehab and a failed attempt at an Osbourne family variety show early in 2009.
Osbourne was a surprise hit with the judges and experienced a resurgence in popularity and media attention when she made it to the finals. In August of 2010, Osbourne secured a stable gig as co-host of Joan Rivers‘ weekly celebrity fashion show, Fashion Police. In 2011, she jumped back to the big screen alongside Ed Asner in Should’ve Been Romeo and Miley Cyrus in So Undercover.
Love And Violence
Though Osbourne turned over a very sleek and fashionable new leaf, her past troubles extended far beyond the occasional stint in rehab. Her tumultuous relationship with The Usedfrontman Bert McCracken was documented on The Osbournes, and their eventual break-up left the teenage Osbourne brokenhearted.
She dated rocker Matty Derham in 2006, but moved on to Matt Emerson of the band Trash Fashion in 2007. In January of 2009, Osbourne was arrested for assault after she slapped a journalist who insulted her then-fiancé, British model Luke Worrall. The couple stuck together throughout the trying incident, but split up in 2010 amidst rumors of Worrall’s infidelity.
Defining Quote “If you look around at girls who are older than me who are children of celebrities, hardly any of them have matured, hardly any of them have grown up to be … I wouldn’t say decent human beings, but productive human beings.”
