Who Is Heidi Montag
In case you’re not sold on the dangers of reality television consumption, Heidi Montag exists to remind us that that stuff rots your brain. The puffed, stuffed, snipped, stretched and suctioned bottle blond has been working hard at not working and making a very lucrative, very dramatic, very irritating living doing it. But, like all people who have become freaks of nature thanks to overexposure, Heidi was once a regular girl who had breast implants that were in proportion to her tiny frame.
American television personality, Heidi Montag, has a net worth of just $100 thousand dollars, as of 2020. Which is staggering considering Heidi’s net worth was at least $10 million dollars just a few short years ago. Yet high priced handbags and designer clothes cost the young star over a million… and millions more were spent on her and husband Spencer Pratt‘s lavish lifestyle.
From Humble To High Maintenance
Heidi Blair Montag grew up with humble beginnings in a small town in Colorado, but went on to become (in the words of her personal website) “a story-book example of the small town girl making it big and living the ‘American Dream’ in Hollywood.” After high school, she made her way to San Francisco, California to attend the Academy of Art. There she met Lauren Conrad, who had made a name for herself on MTV’s scripted reality show Laguna Beach. The two became BFFs, and Conrad brought Heidi along for the reality fame ride.
She appeared in a few episodes of the second season of Laguna Beach when she and Conrad transferred to the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Los Angeles, but they eventually got their own spin-off series. The Hills was a turning point for Heidi. Not only did she become a recognizable name, but she met fellow reality star Spencer Pratt. Pratt immediately cast himself as the show’s villain, causing a rift in her friendship with Conrad, which morphed into a full-blown feud when he spread rumors that Conrad made a sex tape with ex-boyfriend Jason Wahler. With her relationship with Lauren successfully destroyed, in the fall of 2007, the couple, dubbed Speidi, got engaged (in front of the cameras, of course).
In 2008, Heidi made the ill-informed decision to embark on a musical career. In February, she digitally released her first single, complete with music video, “Higher.” The single and the video were widely panned. But she had other things in store for the next year. After a fake impromptu wedding in Mexico in late 2008, Speidi tied the knot for real in April 2009 in Pasadena. That same month, the coupled signed on to join the cast of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! Staying true to their reputation for being difficult, they had several tantrums before quitting the show, coming back and quitting again.
Even though her first segue into the music scene was less than successful, she wasn’t deterred and she released a full-length album Superficial in early 2010. It was timed with the release of Heidi’s shocking new look. Montag already had a nose job and boob job in 2007, but in a January exclusive for People magazine, she revealed that she had 10 plastic surgery procedures in one day including liposuction, a nose job, chin reduction and breast implants. Despite the publicity storm, the album tanked, selling a little over 1,000 copies in its debut week.
But the rest of the year took a different direction when she separated from Spencer in June. Most people cried, “publicity stunt!” but the couple confirmed the break-up was real and Heidi filed for divorce on July 30. Spencer, never one to shy away from controversy, shot back by shopping the couple’s alleged sex tape to porn distributor Vivid Entertainment. But, like all things Speidi, once the publicity from their split died down, they called off the divorce.
