About George Gray
Extreme Gong, which aired on GSN in the late 1990s and was an upgraded version of The Gong Show, was Gray’s first in-studio show. In addition, he was the host of the first season of the American adaptation of Junkyard Wars, which was considered for a nomination for a prime-time Emmy.
Gray’s first job hosting a television show was for the Fox Movie Channel, and the show was called FXM Friday Nights. Prior to that, Gray had worked as a stand-up comedian and in sketch comedy. After then, he became a co-host of the TBS show Movies For Guys Who Like Movies, which has been running for a very long time.
Gray was born in Ballwin, Missouri, although he went to high school and graduated from the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona. While he was there, he played drums with the local band The Reason Why together with his two English friends, Tony Randall and Shane Lamont.
Gray went on to become the co-host of NBC’s $25 Million Dollar Hoax in late 2004, after having previously served as the anchor of the reality series Todd TV, which aired on FX, as well as the GSN special National Lampoon’s Greek Games.
He served as the host for the reality sports competition on ESPN called “I would Do Anything.” He began hosting the HGTV show What is With That House? in 2006, also known as That House. He also presented HGTV’s Manland and the building competition Summer Showdown.
Gray was selected by NBC Enterprises in 2001 to host the daily syndicated American version of the game show The Weakest Link, which ran from 2002 until 2003. The show aired during those years. Gray’s hosting approach was compared to the temperament of a “class clown” by TV critic Steve Rogers, in contrast to the “severe schoolmarm” attitude of the original host of The Weakest Link, Anne Robinson.
Gray was promoted to the position of fourth regular announcer on The Price Is Right on April 18, 2011, succeeding Rich Fields. Prior to this, Gray had been one of a group of auditioning announcers that appeared on the show on a rotating basis. On January 15, 2015, Gray was on the show when he was injured after falling off of a treadmill he was discussing. The video soon spread around the internet.
In the year 2020, Gray was admitted to the hospital after experiencing three significant heart attacks. He woke up with chest pains and assumed it was indigestion, but as the day went on, his situation became increasingly worse. After that, the doctors carried out a procedure known as a quadruple bypass.
