Jake Matthews Lloyd, who is also known as Jake Broadbent, is an American actor that became famous in the late 1990s with his voice role of young Anakin Skywalker in the film Star Wars: The Phantom Menace (Episode I). Apart from mainstream recognition, he also received several nominations for Young Artist Awards. His career lasted less than a decade and ended in 2002, although he was able to take part in multiple projects during that time.
He was born in Fort Collins, Colorado, on March 5, 1989. He is the older son of Bill and Lisa Lloyd. His father was a technician and his mother worked at an entertainment agency, representing various actors and public figures based in Colorado. Jake has a younger sister named Madison. His family moved to Carmel, Indiana, where he and his sister attended the Caramel High School.
Long before his graduation from high school in 2007, in the late 1990s when he was just eight years old, Lloyd ventured into acting. To further improve his acting skills and help him develop his presence on the stage, his parents signed him up to acting schools and theaters in several Indiana cities. He starred in various advertisements and commercials for boy clothes, shoes, and accessories. He also took part in television commercials for the likes of McDonald’s, Burger King, and Mentos, which happened to mark his first appearance on television.
