About Melissa Rycroft
Dallas, Texas, welcomed Melissa Katherine Rycroft into the world in 1983. She began studying dance at a young age and was a drill team first lieutenant in high school. She transferred from the University of Oklahoma, where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega, and majored in marketing at the University of North Texas.
From 2006 through 2008, she danced for the Dallas Cowboys. She frequently appeared as a cheerleader in the reality series Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team on Country Music Television. She serves as a showmanship mentor to the training camp hopefuls and is a member of the jury for the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders tryouts.
As one of the 25 bachelorettes vying for Jason Mesnick’s affections, Rycroft made an appearance on the thirteenth season of The Bachelor.
Mesnick proposed to Rycroft in the season finale, picking her over Molly Malaney, who came in second. Mesnick departed Rycroft shortly after making the proposal, saying he had feelings for Malaney. In 2010, Mesnick and Malaney got hitched.
