Jonathan Cheban was born in Moldova, Soviet Union, in 1974. His parents were Mikhail, a diamond dealer, and Galina, a real estate agent. Mikhail passed away in 2011. He was up in Fort Lee, New Jersey, and went to Fort Lee High School before earning a communications degree from Hofstra University in 1995. Cheban is a Russian Jew by heritage.
Cheban originally came to the public’s attention when he appeared on the reality series Keeping Up with the Kardashians as the Kardashian sisters’ buddy. After that, he made multiple appearances in the episodes of the spin-off series Kourtney and Kim Take New York, Kourtney and Kim Take Miami, and Kourtney and Khloé Take The Hamptons.
