Who Is Ryan Seacrest
This renaissance man of entertainment began his multi-faceted career as an intern at an Atlanta, Georgia radio station. Ryan Seacrest’s broadcast career began somewhat accidentally when the host of a regular show called in sick. A 16-year-old Seacrest got up to pinch hit and impressed the radio bigwigs. From that lucky break he’s developed a far-reaching career across multiple media platforms: he graces the small screen, the big screen and rocks the radio airwaves in America and around the world.
American radio personality Ryan Seacrest has a net worth of $430 million dollars, as of 2020.
Rocking The Airwaves
Son of Constance Marie and Gary Lee Seacrest, at the age of 19, Ryan dropped out of the University of Georgia and headed to Hollywood hoping to fast track his broadcasting career. Within a year, he was hired by KYSR-FM 98.7 and given his own show, Ryan Seacrest for the Ride Home.
His starting wage was $15 an hour but listeners quickly fell in love with this sweet-talking southerner and his show became nationally syndicated. Of course he didn’t stop there, his radio career continued on through multiple shows and stations. He is currently the host and executive producer of On Air with Ryan Seacrest, a show that plays on over 100 stations and even has an audience overseas.
An American Idol
However, what Seacrest is probably best known for is his perpetual role of “host.” He has hosted a huge variety of game shows and reality television including Gladiators 2000, E! News and The NBC Saturday Night Movie. He is also a recurring host and the executive producer of ‘Dick Clark‘s Rocking New Year’s Eve’ whose title has been aptly changed to ‘Dick Clark’s Rocking New Year’s Eve with Ryan Seacrest.’ But he’s probably best known for the snide comments he used to exchange with judge Simon Cowell on the wildly successful series American Idol, a post he’s held since 2002.
But his production skills certainly aren’t limited to awkward interviews with wannabe singers after they’ve been eviscerated by judges, he is the executive producer of Keeping up with the Kardashians, Denise Richards: It’s Complicated and Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution. And his popularity and a smile that would make the Osmonds jealous have also landed him spokesperson gigs with Crest Toothpaste and Scope Mouthwash. He has also used his star-power to rally on behalf of his favorite charity Operation Smile, which “provides cleft lip and palate repair surgery to children worldwide.”
(Single) Ladies Man
Ryan has previously remained tight-lipped about his love life, which could possibly be because he was just too busy to have one. He was a self-proclaimed bachelor who was once lectured by Ellen DeGeneres to settle down and find love before it was too late. The media king obliged the talk show queen and has since been dating famous singer and dancer Julianne Hough of Dancing with the Stars.
Seacrest might have been single for quite a while but there is one lady who he has always had a whole lot of love for—his mom. The mama’s boy once said, “The greatest thing I ever did was make enough money so I could buy my mom a house.” Who can argue with that?
Defining Quote “I don’t know what a mogul feels like. I am only 5’9″ and can only bench 160 pounds.”
