Background
Kligerman’s open-wheel career eventually led him to stock cars in the ARCA Racing Series as a development driver for Team Penske and Dodge with their offshoot program — Cunningham Motorsports in 2008 — similar to many who have pursued USAC in recent years. He did this while continuing his career in midget racing.
By 2009, Kligerman had made it to the ARCA Series on a full-time basis and had begun to demonstrate his Open-Wheel and Skip Barber racing skills in a stock car. Instead, Kligerman suffered numerous incidents throughout the season, including a first-lap crash at Martinsville Speedway that caused him to fall far down the standings. Later, in the summer, Swan Racing folded, depriving him and teammate Cole Whitt of a ride.
Kligerman was left without a ride while Whitt was hired by BK Racing.
Future
Kligerman has started conversations with teams in a number of other racing categories in case his hopes of returning to the Sprint Cup Series are dashed.
