About Maverick Carter
Carter participated in Nike’s internship program before dropping out of school to pursue a career as a Nike field representative. Since 2006, he has been serving in the role of James’ business manager. LRMR is an agency that specializes in sports marketing, and Carter, along with James, Rich Paul, and Randy Mims, is one of the company’s founding members and partners. It was at Carter’s direction that a television special called “The Decision” was developed. In the year 2021, Carter was successful in negotiating a contract that gave both he and James a stake in the ownership of the Boston Red Sox.
On October 10th, 1980, Maverick Carter came into the world. He was raised in Akron, Ohio, and Atlanta, Georgia, for the majority of his childhood. Carter was raised in the home of his social worker mother, Katherine Powers, and his father, Otis Carter. He has been a close buddy of LeBron James for a very long time. Both of them attended St. Vincent–St. Mary High School (SVSM) in Akron, where they participated in the sports of basketball and football.
Carter played college basketball for one season at Western Michigan after graduating from SVSM. After transferring to the University of Akron, he then focused on other interests and did not play college basketball again.
Carter was the one who brokered the contract between LRMR and Fenway Sports Group, which resulted in James acquiring an interest in Liverpool F.C. and enhancing his reputation in other countries.
In addition to that, he created a series of advertisements called “The LeBrons” that feature cartoon versions of James. Additionally, he and James established SpringHill Entertainment, a company that works in collaboration with Warner Bros. and is responsible for producing works such as Space Jam: A New Legacy, the NBC game show The Wall, the Bleacher Report spinoff Uninterrupted, the Disney XD series Becoming, and Survivor’s Remorse on Starz.
Along with James and Drake, he served as an executive producer for the documentary film Black Ice that was directed by Hubert Davis in 2022.
