About Keith Morrison
In 1973, he became a newsreader for the program Canada AM on CTV. Subsequently, he held positions as a reporter, weekend anchor, and producer for the program. He was honored with accolades for the coverage of the Yom Kippur War that he provided while working as a reporter for CTV. Between the years 1975 and 1976, he worked as a reporter for CTV National News. When Morrison first started out in the broadcasting industry in the 1960s, he worked as a reporter and anchor for local stations in Saskatchewan, Vancouver, British Columbia, and Toronto, Ontario. In 1982, Morrison started working for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, where he remained until 1986 in the roles of substitute host and Chief Political Correspondent for the network’s nightly program The Journal, which focuses on public affairs. Bill Hader, who is a cast member of Saturday Night Live, has performed a skit that parodies Morrison’s journalistic style. On the episode of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon that aired on March 30, 2009, Hader jokingly stated that he lived in fear of getting into the same elevator as Morrison. This was in reference to the fact that Morrison works in 30 Rockefeller Plaza, which is the same building where both Dateline NBC and Saturday Night Live are produced.
The year 1995 marked Morrison’s return to NBC, where he had previously worked, in the capacity of correspondent for Dateline NBC. In the episode of Seinfeld titled “The Trip” Morrison had a guest appearance as a newscaster. In the program, he reported that Kramer had been detained on suspicion of being a serial killer.
The interviews that Morrison has given on Dateline have not only kept audiences watching, but they have also grabbed the attention of comedians. On November 22, 2008, a sketch was produced by Saturday Night Live with him as the key protagonist, and Bill Hader played the role of the character. In addition, on the episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers that aired on July 9, 2014, Morrison makes an appearance as himself, parodying the dramatic delivery of real-life murder mysteries that he is known for providing on Dateline.
