About Ward Burton

In the 1994 racing season, Burton advanced to the Winston Cup Series. He competed in 26 of the 31 races in the No. 31 Hardee’s Chevrolet that was sponsored by A.G. Dillard Motorsports. He won the pole position for the first time in his career at Charlotte Motor Speedway and finished 35th overall. He raced for the No. 31 team again in 1995, but on August 20, one day after finishing sixth at Michigan, he was fired from the team.

Ward Burton has an estimated net worth of $15 million dollars, as of 2023. He is currently the director of the conservation and sportsmen’s group, the Ward Burton Wildlife Foundation.

After John Tanner was let go from his driving position in 1995, Burton took over the No. 95 Chevrolet driven by Buz McCall, which was sponsored by Caterpillar, Inc. During the 1996 season, he made eight appearances for Bill Davis Racing in the Pontiac that was sponsored by MBNA and wore the No. 22.

Despite the fact that he was born in Danville, Virginia, Burton claims South Boston, Virginia to be his hometown. Jeb, Sarah, and Ashton are the names of Burton and Tabitha’s three children as a married couple. He is the proud owner of several thousand acres of hunting ground in the rural region of Virginia, not far from South Boston, which is his hometown. In addition, he owns a house in Nags Head, which is located in North Carolina.

In the year 2000, Burton participated in six additional races for Davis, all of which were sponsored by Polaris Industries, in addition to one event for Innovative Motorsports. After that, in 2001, he participated in two races with Tommy Baldwin Jr.’s new squad, which was sponsored by Pillsbury.

During the Daytona 500 in 2002, Burton finished the race in the front pack of drivers and was racing among the leading cars the entire time. However, he was able to take the lead because the driver who was in front of him at the time, Sterling Marlin, got out of his car and attempted to fix a damaged right-front fender during a red flag, which resulted in a penalty because repairs are not permitted during red flag conditions except for in non-points paying races.

This allowed him to take the lead. When the race was restarted, Marlin was placed at the back of the field, and Burton took advantage of the opportunity to take the lead. He was able to keep it, ultimately beating Elliott Sadler and Geoffrey Bodine to claim victory.

The year 2003 was one in which Burton had a number of disappointing finishes. Only four of his finishes were inside the top ten, and he left Bill Davis Racing with four races remaining in the season to start driving the NetZero-sponsored No. 0 Pontiac for Haas CNC Racing. He only had four Top 10 finishes. He ended the season with a total of 21 points, which placed him 21st overall.

Burton was appointed to a seat on the Virginia Board of Game and Inland Fisheries on November 1, 2005, by the governor of Virginia at the time, Mark R. Warner.

Burton, a citizen of Halifax County, Virginia, was appointed to fill the position on the board for Virginia’s 5th Congressional District that had been vacant since the resignation of C. Wilson McNeely, IV. McNeely had served in this capacity for a total of six years.

On January 2, 2007, Brewco Motorsports Inc. made the announcement that Burton would compete in the Busch Series in 2007 driving the Kleenex-sponsored Ford Fusion with the number 27. Beginning with the Orbitz 300 at Daytona International Speedway, Burton was scheduled to compete in a total of 20 different races for Brewco Motorsports and Kleenex. He was cut loose toward the end of the season.

Beginning in 2013, Burton was employed by Turner Scott Motorsports as a driver coach for the organization. In this role, he was responsible for assisting with the development of drivers competing in the Nationwide and Camping World Truck Series. The principal sponsor of the team, however, missed a payment just before the start of the 2014 season, and as a result, the team was unable to compete and had to be disbanded.
