About Gates McFadden
Actress Gates McFadden, better known by her stage name Cheryl McFadden, rose to fame playing Dr. Beverly Crusher on Star Trek: The Next Generation from 1987 to 1994. She also starred in four cinematic spin-offs. But earlier in her career, she collaborated as a choreographer on Creature Shop projects, starting with The Dark Crystal, with Jim Henson.
She acted as “Special thanks” for Labyrinth in addition to doing a similar role on Dreamchild in 1985, for which she was given a “director of choreography and puppet movement” credit. She also played Martin Price’s secretary in The Muppets Take Manhattan in between Creature Shop assignments. The Hunt For Red October and When Nature Calls are two of McFadden’s other notable works, and has made appearances on The Cosby Show, Saturday Night Live, All My Children (repeatedly as Dr. Lisa Mallory), and Mad About You (as Paul’s supervisor Allison).
