About Paul Orndorff

Paul Parlette Orndorff, Jr. is a former professional wrestler from the United States who gained fame as “Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff during his appearances with the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) and World Championship Wrestling (WCW). During the infamous 1980s WWF wrestling boom, Orndorff rose to become one of the sport’s most dominant and well-liked superstars.

One of the greatest feuds in wrestling history, between Hulk Hogan and Orndorff in 1985–1986 is credited with catapulting Hogan’s career to the height of Hulkamania. Early in 1988, Orndorff left the WWF for the WCW. Orndorff worked as a professional wrestling trainer after retiring. Orndorff was given a cancer diagnosis in 2011, but after receiving therapy, he was proclaimed cancer-free by the year’s end.

American professional wrestler and college football player Paul Orndorff has an estimated net worth of $2 million dollars, at the time of his death in 2021. Orndorff is best known for his appearances with the World Wrestling Federation and World Championship Wrestling.

I knew how to upset the people, and I did it in such a way that it was believable. That’s how I made a living at it for 20 years. I don’t regret a thing I done or said in wrestling. Nothing.” Paul Orndorff

After spending a year playing in the World Football League, Orndorff began wrestling in 1976. He initially worked for several wrestling promotions in the southern states of the United States, including Mid-Southern Wrestling, Southeast Championship Wrestling, Mid-South Wrestling, and Georgia Championship Wrestling. He made his WWF debut in 1983, playing a narcissistic bad guy in the main event of the inaugural WrestleMania event.

Later, he would pair up with Hulk Hogan, the most famous member of the WWF, sparking a plot in which Orndorff betrayed Hogan and the two engaged in a prominent conflict. Orndorff sustained an arm injury at the time and retired for a while until making a comeback in 1990, mainly performing for WCW. He won multiple championships in WCW, including the WCW World Tag Team Championship and the WCW World Television Championship with Paul Roma (as a team called Pretty Wonderful). Orndorff retired in 2000 as a result of his ongoing arm problems brought on by the 1988 injury. He was admitted to the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005 and the Hall of Fame of the National Wrestling Alliance in 2009.

Orndorff was listed in a class action lawsuit brought against WWE on behalf of wrestlers who claimed to have suffered “long term neurological injuries”
