About David Carradine
David Carradine was a famous American actor who specialized in martial arts roles. He is most known for playing Kwai Chang Caine, a peace-loving Shaolin monk traveling through the American Old West, in the 1970s television series Kung Fu. In both Kill Bill movies, he also played the title role. He appears in the movies Mean Streets and Boxcar Bertha, both directed by Martin Scorsese.
The Carradine dynasty of actors, which began with his father John Carradine, included David Carradine. The elder Carradine’s playing career spanned more than four decades and includes both significant and supporting parts on stage, screen, and television. David Carradine was a prolific “B” movie performer who, over the course of a career spanning more than six decades, featured in more than 100 feature films.
He was nominated for a Golden Globe Award and an Emmy Award for his work on Kung Fu, and he received three more nominations for the Golden Globe for his roles in Quentin Tarantino‘s Kill Bill: Volume 2 and the Woody Guthrie biopic Bound for Glory, for which he won the Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actor.
After Carradine’s passing, movies with him in them kept coming out. Among the many genres represented by these posthumous credits were action, documentaries, drama, horror, martial arts, science fiction, and westerns. Carradine was a filmmaker and musician in addition to an actor. Additionally, he practiced martial arts after being inspired by his Kung Fu character. Carradine was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on April 1, 1997.
