Who Is Carmen Electra
Bombshell Carmen Electra is known worldwide for her sexy curves, icy blue eyes and high-profile rock and roll relationships, but she also boasts an impressive resume that includes actress, singer, dancer and, of course, Playboy model.
Carmen Electra has a net worth ballparked at $10 million dollars, as of 2020.
A Little Prince-Ess
Carmen Electra was born Tara Leigh Patrick in Sharonville, Ohio, the youngest of five children. Taking a cue from her musician parents, Carmen began to follow in their footsteps as a tiny tot, taking dance classes and dreaming of Broadway by age five. She enrolled in a local arts high school and zipped off to Hollywood as soon as she earned her diploma.
Carmen spent a few months paying her dues as a club dancer, but fate intervened when a talent scout for Prince liked her moves and helped her land an audition with the purple icon. She signed a recording contract under her brand new, Prince-given name, but her music career wasn’t meant to be, and her debut self-titled album flopped.
Pin Up Queen
Carmen’s second chance came when she went under the knife and emerged a Baywatch-worthy babe. Her sexy new bod landed her a stint on the smash hit show as well as a nude pictorial in Playboy. She would eventually become a fan favorite for Playboy‘s millions of readers, appearing on three covers since her first shoot in 1996.
Carmen’s Playboy popularity proved to be the perfect segue to the showbiz career she always dreamed of. She replaced Jenny McCarthy as the host of MTV’s Singled Out in 1997, and landed roles in campy flicks like Scary Movie, An American Vampire Story, and Starsky & Hutch. She also found work in music videos and TV shows, but Carmen received much more acclaim for her looks than for her acting abilities.
By the early 2000s she was a full-blown pin-up star, showing her stuff on the covers of Maxim, Stuff and FHM, dancing with The Pussycat Dolls and appearing frequently as a guest on Howard Stern’s show. In the late 2000’s, Carmen kept busy as a spokesperson for Taco Bell and Max Factor, and as the creator of her own sexy workout DVD set, Carmen Electra Aerobic Striptease.
Carmen’s personal life has garnered almost as much attention as her curves. In 1998, she married the notorious bad boy of basketball, Dennis Rodman, in Las Vegas. Days later, Rodman told the world that he was drunk during the ceremony and asked for an annulment. They divorced six months later, but the drama continued later that year when they were arrested after an explosive argument in Miami’s super-posh Bentley Hotel.
Carmen briefly bounced back with fellow Baywatch-alum Pamela Anderson’s ex-husband, Tommy Lee. Their relationship didn’t last, but Carmen showed her preference for rockers over ballers when she wed Jane’s Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro in 2003. They filmed the month leading to their nuptials for the MTV celebreality show, ‘Till Death Do Us Part: Carmen & Dave. But the seemingly happy couple’s honeymoon didn’t last forever and they separated in 2006 amidst rumors of infidelity.
Carmen’s love life hasn’t been nearly as tabloid-worthy since their split. She became engaged to Rob Patterson of the metal band Otep in 2008, they were planning their wedding, yet later split in 2012.
Defining Quote “I was really super shy. So even hosting or sitting here doing an interview…If I go back to my childhood, I can’t imagine getting over that shyness.”
