About Ashley Olsen

Although she may be known better as half of a twosome, this business-minded gal proves she’s more than just one of the Olsen girls. She was our favorite Tanner family member on Full House. Now she’s all grown up and the brains behind her fashion lines, The Row and Elizabeth and James.

American fashion designer, businesswoman, author, and former actress and producer Ashley Olsen has an estimated net worth of $250 million dollars, as of 2023.

From Diapers To Full House

Born in Sherman Oaks, California, Ashley and her twin sister, Mary-Kate, got their start at the ripe age of nine months old. The two were cast in the family TV series Full House sharing the role of the adorable littlest sister, Michelle Tanner. The show developed a huge following and became the childhood epitome of a generation. Its ratings were second only to The Bill Cosby Show.

Growing up before viewers’ eyes and becoming the mini-sweethearts of TV, Ashley and her sister decided to take their following to the bank—in 1993, at the age of seven, the two created Dualstar Entertainment, although they didn’t become co-CEOs until they turned 18 in 2004.

While still calling herself a part of the Tanner family, Ashley went on to star in three straight-to-video movies with her twin sis: To Grandmother’s House We Go (1992), Double, Double, Toil and Trouble (1993) and How the West Was Fun (1994). The twins were the envy of every little girl who dreamed of adventures that they made come to life.

The two also hit the pavement in a video detective series called The Adventures of Mary-Kate and Ashley in which the trench coat wearing sleuths would promise to “solve any crime by dinner time.”

College In A New York Minute

Although consequent projects like Two of a Kind in 1998 and So Little Time in 2001 never made it to the level of her debut series, Full House, Ashley and her sister held onto the spotlight and used it to land roles in the 2004 film New York Minute. Alongside Eugene Levy, the girls’ roles, for the first time, give them a separate identity, much like their real life personalities, and Ashley represented the sophisticated, hard-working half of the twinship.

That same year, Ashley and her sister also enrolled at NYU—hoping to get a taste of the “real world” life they had missed out on since they were infants. But Ashley only completed three years of her undergraduate degree before she dropped out in 2007.

A Passion For Fashion

As the girls grew into young women they also grew into fashion. Once again, Ashley’s sophisticated and simple style separated her from her Bohemian sister. Ashley soon became a staple and muse to the fashion industry; front and center at every Fashion Week rubbing elbows with the chic elite. In 2007, Ashley and her sister launched a clothing line, The Row, in attempt to design the perfect t-shirt. Since then The Rowhas blown up into a luxury brand that is a go-to label for tons of celebs and girls who want to get their hands on a piece of the Olsen franchise.

The sisters launched a second line, Elizabeth and James (named after their two other siblings), in an attempt to narrow the gap between luxury and price-accessible clothes.

The line’s chic downtown vibe is an evident appendage of the girls’ own personal styles.

While her sister is still involved in an acting career, Ashley has become the behind-the-scenes visionary for the girls’ business ventures. Although we can’t get enough of the NYC paparazzi shots of Ashley hiding behind her venti Starbucks coffee, she admits that she is a homebody who would rather have a casual date with actor boyfriend, Justin Bartha, than spend a night out on the town.

“I’m really a home body. I just like to be at home in my environment with my friends.”
