Who Is Penn Badgley
It didn’t take long for this “lonely boy” from the wrong side of the bridge to go from outcast to Hollywood “it” boy. With a Gossip Girl on his arm to a budding film career, Penn is definitely one to watch.
American actor Penn Badgley has a net worth of $8 million dollars, as of 2020.
Originally hailing from both Richmond, Virginia and Seattle, Washington, Penn’s natural magnetism and passion for acting was sparked when he began a career doing voice-overs for local radio stations and video games. Not a bad start for a kid who headed to Hollywood one summer to try his luck with the big dogs and landed his first gig when he was just 13.
Penn was quick to get an agent and a walk-on role in the hit series Will & Grace in 1999. Like so many actors just starting out, Penn went on to appear in episodes of the soap opera The Young and the Restless before snagging a film role in The Fluffer (2001) and TV shows What I Like About You (2002) and The Twilight Zone (2003).
But things started to pick up for the aspiring actor when in 2006 he landed a spot on the popular series The Bedford Diaries before scoring a role in the box office hit John Tucker Must Die alongside Brittany Snow and Jesse Metcalfe.
Not So Lonely “Lonely Boy”
The following year, Penn landed a role on what would become the most popular teen TV drama and go on to capture young audiences for years to come—Gossip Girl. In the series, Penn plays the down-and-out Brooklyn boy who trades his less than five star lifestyle for a shot at running with the fast crowd on the Upper East Side.
The role delivered much more than a non-stop flow of Penn-obsessed fans for the actor, it also brought Penn’s onscreen romance with co-star Blake Lively off-screen. The pair’s real-life romance brought the series to life and although they tried to keep their coupling under wraps, they couldn’t help from becoming the young Hollywood couple to watch.
Single And Ready To Mingle
In 2009, Penn landed his first big budget lead role in the thriller The Stepfather in which his character had to defend his family from a psychotic and dangerous stepfather. The following year, Penn appeared in the wildly popular Easy A opposite up-and-coming funnygirl Emma Stone.
Although things were heating up for Penn’s career, the same could not be said for his love life when in October of 2010, things more than cooled down with his girlfriend of three years, Blake. But we’re not concerned for Penn, who hasn’t been single since his career skyrocketed. We’re sure there’ll be girls lined up down the street and around the corner for a chance to get cozy with this tall dark and handsome stud.
Defining Quote “When I was 15 or 16, I was in an ‘80s show so I was wearing ridiculously tight parachute pants and blousy collared shirts during the day and then I’d go home at night and I was a regular 16-year-old. There are certain mirrors there.”
