Who Is Olivia Munn
The Daily Show‘s resident hottie Olivia Munn has been a fixture in geek culture for years, but now she’s poised to take on mainstream Hollywood thanks to a successful transition into film and even the publishing world. This funnygirl with curves has come a long way since her G4 hosting gig.
American actress Olivia Munn has a net worth of $25 million dollars, as of 2020.
International Military Brat
Lisa Olivia Munn was born in Oklahoma City on July 3, 1980. Her Chinese mother, who was raised in Vietnam, married into the military, giving Olivia the opportunity to see the world at a young age. The family traveled back and forth between the U.S. and Tokyo, but Olivia decided to settle down in the states after graduating from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in journalism. But not one to stay in one place for long, Olivia soon relocated to Los Angeles to pursue her Hollywood dreams.
From Jock To Nerd
Shortly after her move to Hollywood, Olivia put her journalism degree to good use when she interned for FOX Sports as a sideline reporter for college football and basketball. But she immediately realized that a career as the next Pam Oliver was not in the cards and decided to try her luck at acting instead. In 2005, she landed a gig as a surfer chick on The N Network’s Beyond the Break.
Olivia enjoyed her first big role and still surfs on occasion, but the show was a dud, and her true break came in 2006 when she won a hosting gig on G4’S Attack of the Show. Attack deals largely with video game culture, and Olivia’s good looks were not lost on the fanboys who regularly tuned in.
By 2007, Olivia had posed for Playboy (albeit, clothed) as their Babe of the Month, and after paying her dues in some low-budget films, Olivia made cameos in two of 2011’s bona fide hits Date Night and Iron Man 2.
The Mainstream Wonder Woman
After years of success in the nerd world, Olivia moved to more mainstream fare when she combined her journalism degree with her hosting experience as a correspondent on Jon Stewart’s The Daily Show. Although she has faced criticism from those who think she was hired for her sex appeal rather than her actual talent, the release of her book Suck It, Wonder Woman: The Misadventures of a Hollywood Geek along with her appearances on the covers of Playboy and Maxim prove that Olivia is not one to be beaten by the words of her dissenters. In 2011, she reached another milestone when she joined the ranks as an NBC Thursday night comedy star in Perfect Couples.
Stripping For A Cause Or Just Because…
Though many of her sexy shots have come from the pages of Maxim and Playboy, Olivia is also known to strip down for a good cause. She took it all off for a 2010 PETA campaign that defended the rights of circus elephants. Her tastefully nude shots were seen on billboards nationwide, and she received an eyeful of national publicity for her efforts.
Although Olivia may be willing to ditch her skivvies for a good cause, she’s not nearly as quick to discuss her love life. Olivia tries to keep her personal life personal, that is when paparazzi don’t catch her in the act—she was caught on film smooching Glee’s Matthew Morrison in early 2011. But whomever she’s kissing, Olivia is one girl who won’t give up her geek DNA for a guy.
Defining Quote “There’s something really sexy about a guy who can really play a video game, and I know that sounds dorky, but guess what? You’re talking to me, so I find that really attractive.”
