About Jackson Pollock
Paul Jackson Pollock was an American painter who lived from January 28, 1912, to August 11, 1956. His estimated net worth was $6 million. An abstract expressionist painter was Jackson Pollock. He became extremely well-known for his expressive, “drip” painting style. The birthplace of Jackson Pollock is Cody, Wyoming. Along with his five brothers and parents, he grew up in Arizona and California. Jackson relocated to New York City in 1930, where he attended the Art Students League for his training.
Pollock participated in a David Alfaro Siqueiros workshop in 1936 that was held in New York City. He was exposed to uncommon techniques for working with paint and unconventional mediums in this session. He started incorporating fresh methods into his artwork. He tried with his own techniques as well.
In 1945, Jackson Pollock wed the artist Lee Krasner. Lee also painted in the Abstract Expressionist style. They relocated to an East Hampton house where Jackson turned a barn into a studio.
Action Painting with Jackson Pollock
Pollock started creating his “action” paintings in 1947. In order to experiment with different painting methods, Pollock started laying down canvases on the ground. For his methods of pouring and drizzling paint on his paintings, he won praise and renown. He also switched from using artist’s paints to utilizing home paint. This kind of “drip” painting, in which Pollock would pour, splatter, and drip paint from various instruments onto the canvas, is demonstrated by “Mural On Indian Red Ground.”
Pollock’s Legacy after His Death
He spent a lot of his life battling alcoholism. On August 11, 1956, he was killed in an automobile accident. His age at the time was 44. Alcohol use is suspected to have contributed to the disaster.
