Sir Ian Murray McKellen born May 25, 1939, is a classically trained English actor whose career has spanned various genres from Shakespearean and modern theatre, to fantasy and sci-fi.
Ian McKellen’s most popular role to date has got to be Gandalf, in the Harry Potter series, and Magneto, in the X-Men series. However, McKellen has performed many notable roles which received critical acclaim, ranging from stage productions to movie roles. Outside of his Hollywood blockbusters, his role as the titular King in Richard III (1995) and James Whale in Gods and Monsters (1998) have been met with praise from critics worldwide.
