About David Faber
After working at Institutional Investor for seven years, Faber began his career at CNBC in 1993. His fellow employees at CNBC have given him the nickname “The Brain” and he has hosted a number of documentaries on firms such as Wal-Mart and eBay. Both the Peabody Award and the Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Award for Broadcast Journalism were given to Faber in 2005 for their work on The Age of Walmart. In 2010, he was awarded a share of the Gerald Loeb Award for Television Enterprise business journalism for his work on the show “House of Cards.”
Faber comes from a Jewish family and spent his childhood in Queens, New York. It was in 1985 when he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Tufts University, where he also received his cum laude diploma.
Jenny Harris, who works in television production and as a business journalist, became Faber’s wife in the year 2000. She is the fraternal twin sister of musician Jesse Harris and the daughter of lawyer Jay Harris (Hall Dickler Kent Goldstein & Wood) and actress Marie Masters, who played Marie Masters on the television show As the World Turns.
In addition to hosting Squawk on the Street, Faber is also the host of Business Nation, a program that airs once a month on the network and made its premiere on January 24, 2007.
