About Chuck Bednarik
American professional football player Charles Philip Bednarik, also known as “Concrete Charlie” played in the National Football League. He was one of the last two-way players in the league and has been rated as one of the hardest hitting tacklers in NFL history.
Simply referred to as “The Hit,” his tackle of Frank Gifford on November 20, 1960, during an Eagles game against the New York Giants at Yankee Stadium, is regarded as one of the most difficult tackles most illustrious plays in NFL history. The most prominent memory of Hall of Famer Chuck Bednarik is that he was the final NFL player to play a significant amount of offense and defense. He is also well known for giving running back Frank Gifford a crushing blow that caused a major concussion and forced him out of action for more than a year.
