American actor and director Charles S. Dutton has worked on theater, screen, and television. His most well-known performances include Fortune in the movie Rudy and Dillon in Alien 3. He played Eric Foreman’s father in the television shows House M.D. and Roc (1991–1994).

Dutton was born on January 30, 1951, to a truck driver on the East side of Baltimore, Maryland. Dutton left school in his early years before completing middle school. He once competed as an amateur boxer under the moniker “Roc.” He got into a fight when he was 17 and the man Dutton said had attacked him died as a result. Dutton was accused of manslaughter, found guilty, and sentenced to two years in prison. Dutton was sentenced to three years in prison after being apprehended for having a lethal weapon after being released from jail.
