In 1988, when will.i.am and apl.de.ap were both in the eighth grade, they first met and began rapping and performing together throughout the Los Angeles area. This was the beginning of the Black Eyed Peas. After attracting the notice of Eazy-E manager Jerry Heller, the duo made their recording debut in 1992 on Ruthless Records, which was owned and operated by Eazy-E. Atban Klann was the name they gave their band, which also included another buddy of theirs named Dante Santiago (ATBAN: A Tribe Beyond a Nation).
Will 1X (aka will.i.am), apl.de.ap, Mookie Mook, DJ Motiv8 (aka Monroe Walker) and Dante Santiago created Atban Klann. Due to the fact that Ruthless founder Eazy-E had passed away, the group’s debut album, Grass Roots, was never published.
Allan Pineda Lindo was born in the Philippines, specifically in the city of Angeles. Atban Klann regrouped and changed their name to Black Eyed Pods and subsequently Black Eyed Peas after Eazy-E passed away in 1995. Black Eyed Peas are their current moniker. Taboo took over for Dante Santiago as the lead singer, and Kim Hill was brought on as a permanent backup singer. They decided to play with a live band, in contrast to the majority of hip hop groups, and they developed a musical and clothing style that was very different from the gangster rap sounds that were popular among Los Angeles-based hip hop bands at the time.
The Black Eyed Peas started working on their third studio album, titled Elephunk, in November of 2001. In 2009, the group became one of only a handful of artists to have simultaneously held the No. 1 and No. 2 spots on the Billboard Hot 100 with their singles “Boom Boom Pow” and “I Gotta Feeling” In 2010, the group’s single “Meet Me Halfway” from the album The E.N.D. also achieved a level of success comparable to that of its predecessor. In 2009, these three singles spent a combined total of 30 weeks at the top of the chart.
The Black Eyed Peas were named 12th on the Decade-End Chart Artist of the Decade list by Billboard, while they were ranked 7th in the Hot 100 Artists of the Decade list. They distributed their album titled The Beginning in the month of November in 2010. “The Time (Dirty Bit)” was the first single released from the album, and it quickly rose to the top of the charts in a number of countries. The band had a performance scheduled for the halftime show of Super Bowl XLV in February of 2011.

Apl launched his own independent record label in 2014 under the moniker BMBX Entertainment. The name of the label is a pun on the word “boombox.” Through collaboration with musicians based in Los Angeles, the record label intends to sign artists from South East Asia and provide them with a production more in line with Western standards. The Philippines, Singapore, and Malaysia are the three countries from which it recruits its employees. Slapshock, Kevin Lester, and Jessica Reynoso, who competed in the semi-finals of the first season of The Voice Philippines, are currently members of the cast.
In addition to that, he made an appearance on the third season of The Voice Australia serving as a guest mentor for will.i.am. The announcement of his participation in the second season of The Voice of the Philippines was made public on June 12, 2014.
Apl.de.ap worked together with Ryan Cayabyab, a Filipino composer, to create a performance for the opening ceremony of the 2019 Southeast Asian Games, which took place in the Philippines. Additionally, he and the other members of the Black Eyed Peas gave a performance during the awards ceremony’s conclusion.
