In 1967, Jones gave his first performance in Las Vegas, which took place at the Flamingo hotel and casino. His theatrical act evolved to include not just his acts but also his manner of dress, which featured progressively loose-fitting pants and shirts with open or partially undone buttons. Soon after, he made the decision to record fewer songs and concentrate instead on performing in clubs. Up until 2011, Jones spent at least one week of each year performing in Las Vegas.
