About Marcus Allen
Marcus LeMarr Allen is an American former football running back and analyst who played in the National Football League for 16 seasons, primarily with the Los Angeles Raiders.
Allen played quarterback and safety for Abraham Lincoln High School’s football team in San Diego, California. One could see Allen’s meteoric rise to fame while watching him play in the 1977 CIF Championship game versus Kearny High School. Allen coached Lincoln to a 34-6 victory while scoring five touchdowns, one of which came after an interception. For 195 yards, Allen ran.
Allen gained 12,243 yards on the ground and 5,412 yards from receptions caught during his professional career. In addition, he was chosen for six Pro Bowls and racked up 145 touchdowns, including a then-league-high 123 rushing scores. He contributed to the Raiders’ Super Bowl XVIII victory while playing for them. He was the first NFL player to finish their career with more than 10,000 running yards and 5,000 receiving yards.
The only athlete to have won the Heisman Trophy, an NCAA national title, the Super Bowl, as well as the NFL MVP and Super Bowl MVP awards, is Allen.
In 2000, he was admitted to the College Football Hall of Fame, and in 2003, he was admitted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. After retiring from playing, he worked as an actor and football analyst.
