Early Years
While many soccer players start out young, Pato’s ascent to notoriety started at a very young age. At the age of 3, he began playing futsal, an indoor version of soccer. The child auditioned for Gremio in Porto Alegre as word of his talent went throughout the southern state of Parana. But when he was barely out of his teens, his favorite boyhood team turned him down. He quickly found a club, though, since Gremio’s fiercest rivals Internacional were eager to recruit him. Internacional life
