Early Years

While many soccer players start out young, Pato’s ascent to notoriety started at a very young age. At the age of 3, he began playing futsal, an indoor version of soccer. The child auditioned for Gremio in Porto Alegre as word of his talent went throughout the southern state of Parana. But when he was barely out of his teens, his favorite boyhood team turned him down. He quickly found a club, though, since Gremio’s fiercest rivals Internacional were eager to recruit him. At age 11, he was living in a clubhouse with more than 80 other youngsters who were all vying for a spot on the Internacional first team.

Internacional life

When he was barely 17 years old, Pato made his first-team debut in November 2006. He didn’t let the team down, contributing three assists and a goal that made spectators’ mouths water. Pato scored in the Fifa Club World Cup match against Al-Ahly at the year’s end, helping his team win 2-1 and advance to the final. He was also a part of their tournament-winning upset of Barcelona.

The Move at AC Milan

The most sought-after kid outside of Europe would be joining Milan for approximately US$40 million, it was formally announced a few months after he assisted his nation in winning the 2007 South American Youth Championship. He was ineligible to compete for the Rossoneri until January 3, 2008 because of Fifa regulations concerning non-EU minors. Milan has had a difficult season, therefore they wasted little time in handing Pato his debut. He performed brilliantly, scoring once in a 5-2 demolition of Napoli. With nine goals in 20 games, he impressively ended the 2007–08 campaign. One so young switching continents and settling with such ease is uncommon. With 15 Serie A goals in the 2008–09 season, Pato was Milan’s leading scorer. Pato has continued to improve.

Injury cut short his 2010–2011 season, although he still contributed 14 league goals to Milan’s first scudetto since 2004.

Career in Brazil

When Pato scored in a friendly match against Sweden at the Emirates Stadium in London, he beat Pele’s previous record of 48 years and set a new mark for the youngest player to score in a senior Fifa game (17 years and 102 days). He raced down a long pass, stopped the goalkeeper’s clearing, and curled a left-footed shot from a tight angle into the goal.

Coach Dunga also chose Pato for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and Pato traveled to Argentina for the 2011 Copa America despite being passed over for the 2010 World Cup. Pato scored twice in a 4-2 victory over Ecuador, but he was unable to stop his team from losing on penalties to Paraguay in the quarterfinals.

In 2000, Pato made his professional debut for Internacional as a young player. Alexandre Pato’s net worth is projected to reach $150 million as of 2023. Additionally, Pato has brought home two consecutive Olympic medals for his nation: a bronze in 2008 and a silver in 2012.
