Willard Herman Scott Jr., an American weather presenter, author, television personality, actor, clown, comedian, and radio personality, was born on March 7, 1934, and his net worth is believed to be $10 million.

American weather presenter, author, television personality, actor, clown, comedian and radio personality Willard Scott has an estimated net worth of $10 million dollars, as of 2023. He’s best known as the creator and original portrayer of Ronald McDonald, and for his TV work on the ‘Today show’.

Willard Scott, the beloved weatherman of The Today Show, was born in Alexandria, Virginia, on March 7, 1934, and grew up in the nearby community of Rosemont. He had always had a passion for radio and television. When he was 16 years old, he started working at WRC-AM. Scott attended American University to study philosophy and religion, not broadcasting.

Scott co-hosted the “Joy Boys,” a well-liked radio show, from 1955 until 1972 after graduating from college. He performed in several children’s programs at the same time, most famously as the D.C.-based Bozo the Clown.

Ronald McDonald, another well-known clown, was also influenced by him. He says about “The hottest children’s program at the time was Bozo, according to him in “The Joy of Living. Kids could not resist the mix of hamburgers and Bozo for some reason. Because of this, when Bozo left the air a few years later, the local McDonald’s representatives asked me to create a new character to replace Bozo. I then built Ronald McDonald by sitting down.” As the mascot, Scott appeared in three advertisements.

Early in the 1970s, Scott started his career as a weather forecaster. In 1980, he took over for Bob Ryan as Today’s weatherman. Soon, he would add his famous birthday greetings for viewers turning 100, along with a slew of poor puns, silly jokes, and other levity. Co-host Bryant Gumbel was sufficiently irritated by this silliness to write in an internal note :

The program was being held captive by Scott’s assortment of whims, wishes, birthdays, and offensive behavior. The document was later leaked to the public, and Gumbel later apologized on live.

Al Roker took over the weather responsibilities after Scott departed in the late 1990s. Nevertheless, he continues to frequently appear on the program to wish happy birthday to 100-year-olds.

Scott made a formal announcement of his departure from television in 2015. Willard Scott’s net worth is projected to reach $10 million as of 2023.
