People go vegan for a whole bunch of reasons. Whether it’s just an opportunity to get healthy, animal rights activism, environmental reasons, or whatever else — there are a lot of pretty cool reasons to go vegan. Celebrities are always trying crazy diets and workout plans, but veganism is one that’s a lot more sustainable and better for your health than risky diets like juice cleanses.

So, if you’ve ever wondered which of your fave celebs live the plant-based life and their reasons for why, we’ve found 16 super-famous celebs who swear by veganism.

1. Miley Cyrus

For the past few years, Miley Cyrus has been one of the most vocally-vegan celebrities out there. She’s super passionate about animal rights, as you can probably tell by the tons of pets she has and her work with PETA to promote a vegan lifestyle. She’s constantly flooding her Instagram and Twitter with pro-vegan, anti-hunting, and anti-animal cruelty posts and memes. Heartwarmingly enough, the death of Miley’s beloved dog, Floyd, is what inspired her to go vegan for more political reasons.

2. Ellen Page

Ellen Page is another proud vegan! As far as vegan celebrities go, Ellen’s been pretty political and outspoken when discussing why she decided to take the plunge. According to Ellen’s Twitter, she stated: “Why are vegans made fun of while the inhumane factory farming process regards animals and the natural world merely as commodities to be exploited for profit?” Ellen’s all about eating plant-based food, instead of supporting factory farms and exploiting nature. Vegans everywhere are totally on board with Ellen’s point of view.

3. Alicia Silverstone

Alicia Silverstone is one of the most well-known vegan celebrities in the game. She’s been an outspoken vegan activist for years, and even wrote a book about it called The Kind Diet. After writing her cookbook, being a mom is another source of vegan inspiration for Alicia. She feeds her son, Bear Blu, an exclusively vegan diet. While restricting a children’s diet so intensely is a somewhat controversial move, Alicia swears that her son loves the food she cooks and is a super healthy kid!

4. Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande has been meat-free for years, but not super strictly until 2014. It was then that Ariana took to Twitter to announce that she was going full-on vegan. But I am a firm believer in eating a full plant-based, whole food diet that can expand your life length and make you an all-around happier person.” That makes enough sense!

The more I was aware of, the harder and harder it was to do.”
