Tweet, also known as Charlene Keys, is an American singer-songwriter who was born on January 21, 1971. Her estimated net worth is $6 million. The youngest of Tom and Shirley Keys’ children was Charlene “Tweet” Keys. Along with her parents, three brothers (Tom, Cedric, and Lonnie), and sister, Sundra, she spent her formative years singing in the church. The five kids all became proficient musicians, and Tweet herself picked up the guitar. She enrolled in a performing arts college as her first move toward a career in the music industry. When Tweet was 19 years old, she gave birth to Tashawna.

Performing Career
Early in the 1990s, Tweet moved to Virginia and joined the female quintet Sugah, leaving her daughter in the care of her parents in Florida. She had the opportunity to interact with a number of musicians while living in Virginia, including the rapper and producer Timbaland, Missy Elliott, and Ginuwine. Missy and Tweet ended up becoming close friends.

Tweet eventually returned to her parents’ Florida home after the band Sistah failed, where she developed depression as a result of her lack of personal and professional achievement. She was suicidal when Missy Elliott unexpectedly called and asked her to record background vocals on an album she was working on. Tweet agreed, and Elliott worked to obtain her a recording contract and to help her get over her depression.

Tweet has so far put out two popular solo albums: It’s Me Again in 2005 and Southern Hummingbird in 2002. Late in 2007, Tweet stated in a number of interviews that she had given the idea of leaving the music industry serious consideration because of record label politics. She claimed that the majority of the issues during the second album’s production process were caused by record label mergers. Eventually, Tweet’s recording deal with Elektra/Atlantic Records was terminated.

Tweet eventually signed with the independent record company Umbrella Records, and the release of her third album, Love, Tweet, was planned for December 2008. But no album was released, and the deadline passed. She eventually severed ways with the label, and in 2012, Tweet was signed to DuBose Music Group. Following this, she posted a number of previously unheard tracks to her SoundCloud page before releasing a five-track EP titled Simply Tweet in February 2013.
