About Tim Kennedy

Usually, when we introduce an MMA fighter, we highlight one of their outstanding performances. But there’s so much more to talk about with Tim Kennedy. The individual in question enlisted in the Army on January 4, 2004, finally attended Ranger School, and then was assigned to the 7th Special Forces Group. He participated in operational detachments there.

Alpha served as a sniper, a sniper teacher, and the C Company, 3rd Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group’s primary combatives instructor.

Yes, we are also discussing a man who has served in many deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.

American mixed martial artist and current soldier Tim Kennedy has an estimated net worth of $1.5 million dollars, as of 2023. From 2001 until 2016, Kennedy has fought in the UFC, Strikeforce, the WEC, ShoMMA and HDNet Fights.

Then there are the honors, such as the Bronze Star Medal with V device granted by the Army for bravery in the face of danger.

In other words, Kennedy is a hero of the United States. That matters a lot more than anything we could possibly say about his sporting career. This is his tale.

Date of Birth: Tim Kennedy was born on September 1, 1979 in San Luis Obispo, California.

Training Camp and Fighting Organization:

Kennedy trains out of Jackson’s Submission Fighting in New Mexico.  He fights for the UFC.

Childhood Through College

California’s Atascadero is where Kennedy was raised. He was the middle child out of three. He learned to play the piano and cook thanks to his mother’s influences. He and his brother were enrolled in Japanese jiu jitsu classes, shooting schools, boxing instruction, wrestling teams, and other activities through their father. Kennedy, then, was a young guy with a lot on his plate.

He later graduated in 1998 from the exclusive Eagle Academy high school.

Later, in 2002, Kennedy graduated from Columbia College of Missouri with a B.A. in criminal justice.

Even though Kennedy started fighting in mixed martial arts matches while still in college, he joined the US Army after graduating.

Military Service

The biography’s beginning contains a lot of information about Kennedy’s military experience and accomplishments. He finished Basic Combat Training, Advanced Individual Training, Airborne School, and the Special Forces Qualification Course after enlisting in the army in 2004. He was also mentioned in Dick Couch’s book “Chosen Soldier” which was about Green Beret selection (he appeared in the book under the moniker of “Tom Kendall”).

Kennedy later finished Ranger School and was then posted to the 7th Special Forces Group. He was a sniper, sniper instructor, and the primary combatives instructor for C Company, 3rd Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group while serving on Operational Detachments Alpha there.

He served in many deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom throughout his career, receiving the Army’s Bronze Star Medal with V device for bravery while under fire.

Kennedy joined the Texas Army National Guard in August 2009 after leaving active duty and is now a Special Forces Weapons Sergeant.

Beginnings of MMA

At the Dokan School of Martial Arts in Atascadero, California, Kennedy started his martial arts instruction under Terry Kelly and Barry Smith. In 1999, he upped the ante by training MMA in San Luis Obispo at John Hackleman’s The Pit among pros like Chuck Liddell and Gan McGee. Kennedy gained substantial experience in amateur fights before joining the service and earning his college degree. On August 31, 2001, he also competed in professional mixed martial arts, losing to Scott Smith via TKO in the opening frame. Then, from July 2006 to June 2007, he won eight straight fights.

Career at Strikeforce

On June 19, 2009, at ShoMMA2, Kennedy made his Strikeforce debut by submitting Nick Thompson after being hit in the second round. Kennedy actually won his first three contests for the league before falling short by decision in his attempt to win the middleweight championship against Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza. Kennedy lost to Luke Rockhold once more in his attempt to capture the Strikeforce championship after defeating Melvin Manhoef and Robbie Lawler (by way of decision).

UFC Contacts Me

At UFC 162 on July 6, 2013, Kennedy made his UFC debut. He won a decision match against Roger Gracie, a legendary figure in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Combative Style

Kennedy has improved his stand-up routine. He enters to the fight in excellent shape and is very tough. Having said that, he is a man who seeks to dominate or subjugate you through his wrestling.
