Samantha Jane Morton was born in Nottingham, England on May 13, 1977 and is an English actress and director with an estimated net worth of $11 million. Samantha Morton often works in independent productions with dark themes and has won several awards. Samantha Morton was born as one of eight siblings. Her parents divorced and she was raised in numerous foster homes. Morton got her start at the age of 13 on English television.
Morton received her first Oscar nomination for the role of Hattie in Woody Allen‘s “Sweet and Lowdown” (1999). Morton did not speak a word. Playing the unlikely role of a mute laundress. She followed that role in the independent picture Alison Maclean’s “Jesus’ Son” (1999) starring opposite Billy Crudup. Morton was seen playing the part of Myra Hindley in the Channel 4 film “Lord Longford” opposite Jim Broadbent. She will start filming Charlie Kaufman’s “Synecdoche” opposite Philip Seymour Hoffman and Michelle Williams later this spring.
Morton won the BAFTA Television Award for Best Single Drama for her debut directorial television film The Unloved, in 2009.
