Raymond Albert Romano was born in a middle-class family, in Queens, New York. Raymond discovered his love for comedy early on in high school. It was Bill Cosby‘s organic humor in the standup To My Brother Russell, Whom I Slept With that first got him interested in comedy and got him doing comical improvisations in high school with his four friends in front of a live audience. He then briefly enrolled in Queens College New York with accounting as his major. However, he then went on to pursue a career in comedy and acting and was met with phenomenal success that made him the household name he is today.
Raymond may have discovered his love and a knack for comedy early in life. However, making a successful career out of it wasn’t as straightforward. In fact, for a while in the beginning, Ray aspired to be an accountant by profession, thus his enrollment in Queens College with accounting as his majors.
