Why is he so famous?
Prince Royce became famous when he released his first studio album. Geoffrey was born on May 11, 1989, in New York City. He is the second oldest of four children to Ramon and Angela Rojas. Both of his parents are Dominican – his father drove a taxicab and his mother worked at beauty salons. While he was in elementary school, Royce began experimenting with music and competed in numerous talent shows. At the age of thirteen, besides writing his own songs, he also began writing poetry.
After learning the craft of songwriting during his teenage years, Geoffrey began making music with his friend Jose Chusan, who was using the stage name Jino. The following year, when he turned sixteen, he developed the stage name, Prince Royce. In early 2007, the duo had a meeting with the label Atlantic Records, however, they didn’t sign with it due to the decline of reggaeton music at the time. Towards the end of the decade, after his graduation from high school (Bronx Academy of Letter), he embarked on a solo career and met Andres Hidalgo.
