Paulina Porizkova is a Czech-American actress, author, and model. She was born in Czechoslovakia and now holds a dual Swedish and U.S. citizenship. She was the wife of Ric Ocasek up until the time of his death, in 2019. Her career began in the 1980s as a model and almost immediately became one of the most established faces in the fashion world.
At the age of 18, she made history by becoming the first woman from Central Europe to ever grace the cover of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue. Thanks to her popularity, she took part in many television series, films, and realities. Her most notable appearance was in cycles 10—12 of America’s Next Top Model.
Immediately after signing with Elite, Paulina’s career took off and she became a sensation in Paris. Soon, she received the opportunity to cover the swimsuit issue of the Sports Illustrated magazine.
At the age of 19, she began earning enough from her many other photoshoots and campaigns to live and become a professional model.
