Paul Frederic Simon is an American actor, singer, and songwriter. His musical career started in the 1950s and has spanned over six decades. He reached commercial success and fame as part of the duo Simon and Garfunkel alongside Art Garfunkel. After the duo split up in 1970, he embarked on a solo career and released 14 studio, 11 compilation, and 4 live albums. He has also starred in several acclaimed films such as The Graduate, Annie Hall, and One-Trick Pony.
Paul Simon first gained fame when he joined Art Garfunkel and created the duo Simon and Garfunkel. He was born on October 13, 1941, in Newark, New Jersey. His father, Louis was a double-bass player, college professor, and dance bandleader, while his mother, Belle, worked as an elementary school teacher. His family moved to Flushing, Queens, just four years after Paul was born, where he attended the Forest Hills High School.
His music career started off in the 1950s when he was just eleven years old. At the time, he met Art Garfunkel with whom he performed as a duo in various plays and productions. The two aspiring singers quickly learned to harmonize together and began writing songs. The following decade, he entered the Queens College where he earned a major in English.
