Who Is Olivia Wilde
An Irish-American beauty who’s probably best known for a girl-on-girl kiss with Mischa Barton and playing a bisexual doctor on House, Olivia Wilde took a throng of geeky fanboys by storm as the lead in TRON: Legacy. But off-screen this down-to-earth chick, to the disappointment of her many admirers, is a one-man kind of girl.
American actress Olivia Wilde has a net worth of $20 million dollars, as of 2020.
Born Olivia Jane Cockburn in New York City to journalist parents, Olivia was quite the cultured youngster. After moving to Washington D.C. at a young age, Olivia spent her summers in Ireland (her father is Irish and she does a killer Irish accent) where she studied at the Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin.
After graduating from the Phillips Academy boarding high school in Andover, Massachusetts, Olivia adopted the last name “Wilde” (after Oscar Wilde), packed up for L.A. and landed an internship with a casting director who was working on the teen flick The Girl Next Door.
But the director didn’t see Olivia behind the camera—instead he gave her a small role in the film starring Emile Hirsch and Elisha Cuthbert. That same year, in 2004, Olivia snagged a recurring role on the mega-hit show The O.C. Although she originally tried out for Barton’s starring role as Marissa Cooper, instead Olivia landed a part that would get her quite close to Mischa’s character—Olivia played Mischa’s love interest for a season of the series.
The People’s Princess
Olivia went on to nab roles in feature film like Alpha Dog (2006) (which once again had her sharing screen time with Hirsch), Turistas (2006) and Year One (2009). With her name beginning to grace numerous megawatt marquees, Olivia also became a regular on the red carpet and countless “best dressed” lists. In 2007, Olivia also made it back into living rooms across America on her role in House as Remy “Thirteen” Hadley—a bisexual doctor with a fatal disease.
But before her whirlwind of success, back in 2003, Olivia got hitched to filmmaker, musician and son of an Italian prince, Tao Ruspoli. Saying their impromptu “I dos” on a wacky school bus, the pair (Olivia was technically an Italian princess) were anything but your conventional aristocrats. But the pair called in quits in February 2011 after spending several months living apart.
The exotic beauty has the future in mind, more than ever, as evidenced by her 2010 role in Tron: Legacy. We’ve been known to see into the future ourselves and we see quite a bright one for Ms. Wilde.
