How much is Mischa Barton worth?
|Net Worth:||$1 Million
|Date of Birth:||January 24, 1986|
Most will recognize her as the alcoholic, drug-addicted Marissa Cooper from FOX’s The O.C. and as an equally embattled starlet on the cover of tabloids.
Who Is Mischa Barton
She’s the sun-kissed beauty who can’t seem to shake the tabloid attention. But this child actress turned hot mess needs to make some major moves to salvage her floundering career.
British-Irish-American actress Mischa Barton, has a net worth of $1 million dollars in 2020.
Growing up quite the cultured child, Mischa was born in London before she moved to New York with her mother, a photographer, father, a broker, and two sisters. Studying with industry heavyweights at the New York Theater from a young age, Mischa landed her first acting gig in the off-Broadway show Slavs! alongside Marisa Tomei. Casting a wide net to get an introduction to all aspects of the industry, she went on to make appearances on the soap opera All My Children as well as in the Sundance flick Lawn Dogs when she was just 11.
People began to sit up and take notice of the precocious child actress when she began to land roles in box office smash hits like The Sixth Sense opposite Haley Joel Osmentand Notting Hill, which boasted names like Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant.
California, Here She Comes
But when she was 17 years old she scored the role that would make her a household name and the envy of every girl in America. Mischa starred as Marissa Cooper, the affluent beach girl in the popular series The O.C. (2003). Mischa stuck with the show for three years as we watched her character deal with the highs and lows of her dramatic teen life. But Mischa soon grew out of the role and hoped to showcase her more serious acting chops in film and left the series—her lead character was killed off at the end of the third season.
But following her departure from the series, the roles didn’t come rolling in as Mischa had hoped. She began to appear in a series of unremarkable films like The Oh in Ohio (2006), Virgin Territory (2007) and Homecoming (2009). Mischa’s lackluster career translated into real life when in 2007 she was arrested for DUI and driving without a license. Although Mischa took responsibility for her actions, the media frenzy around this once promising starlet flooded the tabloids.
Things didn’t get much better in July of 2009 after Mischa’s disgruntled conflict with a nurse who was providing her with medical attention for a tooth ache. Mischa was involuntarily committed to a psychiatric program due to her behavior on suspicion of a mental disorder. She was held for two weeks before being released.
Then in 2009, Mischa landed a role in what she thought would be her introduction back into the spotlight. The new series The Beautiful Life turned out to be anything but. In the series Mischa played a supermodel with a grudge—with lower than low ratings the series was cancelled after just two episodes.
She’s had her fair share of ups and downs but Mischa’s career, which seems to be on a downward spiral since her O.C. glory days, can only go up from here. With roles continuing to pop up for the star, she has a chance to get back into the public’s good graces. We’re rooting for the natural beauty to make a well-deserved comeback.
