Early Days of Wrestling
Tate actually competed in wrestling for her high school’s boys team. She was successful in winning the 158-pound high school women’s state championship in 2005. Then, in the World Team Trials, she won the national title in the same division.
Beginnings of MMA
During her time at Central Washington University, Tate’s friend Rosalia Watson persuaded her to visit the mixed martial arts sports club, which was headed by her then-boyfriend and trainer Bryan Caraway.
