About Max Azria
Max Azria, a top American designer who was born in Tunisia, immigrated to the country in the 1980s to pursue his dream of creating women’s clothing. Azria launched his debut collection in 1989 under the BCBG moniker, which is short for “bon chic, bon genre” or “good style, good attitude.” in French.
Many fashionistas were immediately drawn to Azria’s clothing due to its European refinement, and they swiftly snatched up his ready-to-wear collection and added it to their closets. Soon after, further lines would be added, including the acquisition of renowned label Herve Leger in Europe.
Max Azria is live proof that there is a decent woman behind every man, as the proverb goes. Along with Max, his wife Lubov is in charge of all elements of the business, including the color palettes and design inspirations for each season. Together, they created the BCBG Max Azria, BCBGirls, To the Max, BGBG Attitude, and Max Rave empire that exists today.
She had a key role in helping the California-based designer launch his first New York City fashion show and boutique, which helped make him famous. On February 28, 2017, BCBG Max Azria Group filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection; it was reported that in July 2017, Marquee Brands and Global Brands Group will take over the brand and its sibling labels after purchasing the company’s assets and intellectual property rights.
