About Marshawn Lynch
In addition to excelling in football, Lynch was also a standout on the track and field circuit, where he primarily competed in sprinting events but also participated in jumping competitions. As a senior, he ran the 100-meter dash in 10.94 seconds, which was his personal best, and he also posted top-leaps of 1.94 meters (6 ft, 4 in) in the high jump and 6.38 meters (20 ft, 10 in) in the long jump.
Lynch spent his childhood in Oakland, California, together with his three elder brothers and sisters. Marshawn attended Oakland Technical High School, the same institution where his mother, Delisa, previously set a record in the 200-meter track event. Delisa was Marshawn’s primary caregiver throughout his childhood. Lynch got his start in the sport at a young age in Oakland, where he participated in youth football.
Lynch received his education at the University of California, Berkeley, and was a member of the football squad for the California Golden Bears. He graduated with a degree in social welfare. In college, people began to refer to Lynch as “Money”.
In his first game as a college freshman, which was the first game of the regular season, he had seven carries for 92 yards and a touchdown, and his team won 56–14 over Air Force. In the victory that they had over Washington on November 13, he had nine carries for 121 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns in addition to a touchdown reception for 29 yards. This gave him a total of three touchdowns for the game.
After Arrington graduated from high school in 2005, Lynch took over as the starting running back for the team. After completing his freshman year, Lynch changed his number to 10, which was also his high school uniform number. Because of this switch, he is now in the lineup with his cousins Virdell Larkins, who wore the number 9, and Robert Jordan, who wore the number 11 respectively. At Cal, Lynch and his cousins all played on the same squad.

Lynch was required to appear before NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell for a disciplinary hearing after pleading guilty to minor firearms charges during the offseason of the 2009 NFL season. Lynch was taken into custody in Culver City, California, for the offence of possessing a firearm in his bag while occupying the trunk of a vehicle, which is illegal in the state of California. The National Football League (NFL) made the decision on April 9 to announce that Lynch will be punished for the first three games of the season for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy.

On April 26, 2017, Lynch received official word that he had passed his physical and was then dealt to the Oakland Raiders in exchange for Oakland’s fifth-round selection in the 2018 NFL Draft and Seattle’s sixth-round draft pick. Lynch agreed to a two-year deal worth $9 million with a maximum payout of $16.5 million; the deal also included a $2 million incentive for accumulating 1,000 running yards over the course of the season.
In the first game of the regular season for the Raiders, which took place away from home against the Tennessee Titans, Lynch finished with 18 carries for 76 yards of rushing and one reception for 16 yards. The Raiders won the game 26–16.
Lynch was given a punishment of $12,000 on September 14 for making an inappropriate hand gesture. He scored his first touchdown as a member of the Raiders in Week 2 against the New York Jets. The score came on a two-yard rush in the second quarter of the game, which the Raiders won 45–20.
Lynch was active for the Raiders’ first game of the 2018 season under new head coach Jon Gruden and made his comeback to the backfield. In the first three games of the season, all of which were losses for the Raiders, he scored a touchdown on the ground.
