Malaysia Pargo was born Laquisha in Compton, California on August 12, 1980, yet later renamed herself to be called Malaysia. She first became famous when she became a member of the cast on the then reality television series, Basketball Wives: Los Angeles. At the time Malaysia was married to NBA player Jannero Pargo and the show that aired on VH1, followed her and her friends as they lived their wealthy lives as basketball stars wives.

Malaysia began dating Jannero Pargo when she was just 22 years old and the couple married in 2006. Jannero was a point guard for the Atlanta Hawks, yet is now retired.
