About Lana Wood
During the beginning of her career, Wood typically worked on films in which Natalie was also a cast member. Her own career began to take off in the 1960s and continued into the 1980s. After making an appearance on the drama series The Long, Hot Summer, which only lasted for a few seasons, she was cast in the part of Sandy Webber on the serial opera Peyton Place. Between the years 1966 and 1967, she portrayed the character.
She is quoted as saying that declining the role of Karen Black in the 1969 film Easy Rider was the worst move she had made in her acting career, and she now regrets that choice. She was given the role of Plenty O’Toole, a Bond girl, in the film Diamonds Are Forever, which was starring James Bond (1971). Hugh Hefner approached Wood in 1970, and she agreed to pose for Playboy after he asked her to do so. Alongside Wood’s poetry, the Playboy photographs were published in the April 1971 issue of the magazine.
Svetlana Lisa Gurdin was the first child of Russian immigrants Maria Zudilova (1908–1998) and Nicholas Zacharenko. Wood was given the birth name Svetlana Lisa Gurdin (1912–1980). After the Russian Civil War, both of them had to flee Russia as refugees with their parents, and they spent their childhoods in lands very different from where they had been born. After her grandfather, a factory worker at a chocolate factory who had joined the anti-Bolshevik civilian militia, was slain in a street brawl in 1922, the family of her father’s side of the family left Vladivostok. Her sister was Natalie Wood.
After making her debut as a child actress in the film The Searchers, Wood went on to achieve notoriety for her roles as Sandy Webber on the television series Peyton Place and Plenty O’Toole in the James Bond film Diamonds Are Forever. Both of these roles helped propel Wood to the forefront of the entertainment industry.

She wrote a memoir titled Natalie, A Memoir by Her Sister (1984) and another titled Little Sister (2021), in which she alleged that veteran actor Kirk Douglas sexually raped her sister Natalie when she was just 16 years old. Both of these memoirs were published.
