About Kareem Burke
Roc-A-Fella Records was established in 1995 by Burke, Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter, and Damon “Dame” Dash, all of whom were co-founders along with Burke. The year 2004 marked the year that Roc-A-Fella Records was acquired by Def Jam Recordings (which had previously only owned half of the company).
On January 19, 1974, Kareem Burke was born in Harlem, which is located in New York City. In addition to his sister, Burke has a number of brothers and sisters, including C. Burke, Brian L. Burke, Robert “Bobalob” Burke, Kyambo R. “Hip-Hop” Joshua, and Jamil “Mal” Clay. The Bronx witnessed the slaying of his brother Robert E. Burke III in the year 2003. His role as a co-founder of Roc-A-Fella Records, together with Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter and Damon “Dame” Dash, is mostly responsible for his widespread notoriety.
After pleading guilty to the charge of conspiracy to distribute more than 100 kilograms of marijuana, Burke was sentenced to five years in prison on June 4, 2012. The sentence was handed down. Burke was sentenced to time in prison, but he also had to give up $15,000 in cash, his mansion in New Jersey (which was worth $660,000), and his BMW automobile. Burke was granted his freedom from prison in November of 2015.

In February of 2019, it was reported that Burke has added Saint Jhn to the roster of his management organization, which is called Circle of Success.
After hearing Saint Jhn’s music for the first time at a listening party, Burke has mentioned in interviews how meeting Saint Jhn pushed his management concept even farther. According to Burke, “The night [Roc Nation co-founder Tyran Smith], played a preview of Saint Jhn’s new album, I drove home listening to Collection One and had an immediate sonic connection to his music.” Burke was referring to the fact that Smith had played a preview of the album after it had already been released. Not long after that, Burke was hired on as Saint Jhn’s manager.
During the month of August in the year 2020, Biggs made the announcement on social media that “It’s a Hard Truth, Ain’t It” had been nominated for an Emmy. The project was co-directed and executive produced by Kareem Burke, and it had its world premiere at the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival with O.G., which was also produced at the Pendleton Correctional Facility in Indiana around the same time period as the aforementioned production.
The documentary titled “It’s a Hard Truth…” follows thirteen male inmates as they participate in filmmaking classes within the context of a therapeutic investigation into how they came to be serving lengthy sentences in prison. In addition to Madeleine Sackler, who was credited as the director of O.G., the other directors of the film were all men. Several of those thirteen men were also cast in O.G. as first-time actors, giving them the opportunity to work with actor Jeffrey Wright, who has won multiple awards including the Tony, the Golden Globe, and the Emmy. It’s a Hard Truth Ain’t It is the first documentary to be widely distributed that was directed by men who were still serving time in a high-security institution when the film was made.
