Josh McCown, whose full name is Joshua Treadwell McCown, is an American football player and coach. He’s best known for being the quarterback of the NFL (National Football League) team Houston Texans. His professional football career began in the early 2000s and for the past two decades, McCown has played for many teams such as the Arizona Cardinals, Oakland Raiders, San Francisco 49ers, and New York Jets to name a few.
Josh McCown rose to prominence during the 2002 NFL draft when he was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals. He was born on July 4, 1979, in Jacksonville, Texas. He grew up on a ranch and attended the Jacksonville High School. He developed an interest in football ever since he was ten years old. At that time, he began playing with his father and his two brothers Luke and Randy McCown, both of whom became NFL and Texas A&M quarterbacks.
In his senior year in 1997, Josh led his team to the playoffs. His outstanding performance that year won him his first two awards – “East Texas Player of the Year” and “District 174A Offensive Player of the Year”, as well as an honorable mention by the All-State. Besides football, he occasionally played basketball and track and field. As a basketball player, he was able to win the All-District second-team honors as a shooting guard.
