About Joe DeLamielleure

Former American football player Joseph Michael DeLamielleure played offensive line in the National Football League. He was a college football All-American for the Michigan State Spartans. In the first round of the 1973 NFL Draft, he was chosen by the Buffalo Bills.

American former professional football player Joe DeLamielleure has an estimated net worth of $2 million dollars, as of 2023. DeLamielleure is also one of the first living NFL players to be tested and diagnosed with CTE (Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy).

Joe DeLamielleure was one of the greatest offensive guards to ever play the game and the center of the renowned Bills “Electric Company” offensive line in the 1970s. He is most remembered as the quick pulling guard who created several running lanes for hall of fame running back O.J. Simpson. He played for Michigan State and was taken by the Bills in the first round of the 1973 NFL Draft. He was an All-America and three-time All-Big Ten selection.

After learning that DeLamielleure had a heart condition and would never be physically able to compete in the NFL, it seemed possible that he might never put on a Bills uniform. He was able to start a football career, though, and never missed a game after receiving remedial treatments. He began his rookie season as a starter, and over the course of his 13 seasons with the Bills and Cleveland Browns, he played in 185 straight games, starting just three of them.

DeLamielleure was nominated to the All-Rookie team in his rookie season, was a first- or second-team All-Pro eight times throughout the course of his career, and was also selected for six Pro Bowls. He was recognized as the year’s top offensive lineman by the NFL Players Association in 1975.

Joe DeLamielleure never participated in a championship game while playing professional football.
