Singer and actor Jesse McCartney originally became famous for his role as JR Chandler achieved fame in the daytime drama All My Children. He majorly added to his fame and his earnings as a member of the boy band Dream Street and from his solo music career.

Born in Ardsley, New York, to Ginger and Scot McCartney, Jesse was always very interesting in acting and expressing himself. At age 7, he began performing onstage in local musicals. At age 10, he made his Broadway debut in a production of The King and I. At age 12, he was part of a New York Production of A Christmas Carol (1998) with Roger Daltrey. That same year, Jesse was cast in the role as Adam Chandler Jr. on All My Children, for which he would later earn Emmy nominations in 2001 and 2002. He continued his music career with his second studio album Right Where You Want Me, making it to the Top 20 of the Billboard 200. The title single of the album reached #26 becoming McCartney’s second top 40 hit. His third studio album, Departure brought with it the smash hit single, “Leavin’.” The song became the Top 40 Radio’s most played song of of the year and went to number 1 on the charts. His single “How Do You Sleep” also charted in the Top 10 the following year.

Together with Ryan Tedder, he also co-wrote “Bleeding Love” for OneRepublic frontman Leona Lewis. The song was a major success both in the US and internationally, making it to number 1 in a total of 34 countries. The achievement made it the only song in over a decade to earn such phenomenal International attention and it also earned a Grammy nomination and won ASCAP’s “Song of the Year”. It was also the biggest selling hit of the year in the UK.

McCartney continued to make music, including releasing a live album in 2009 and a studio set, Have It All, in 2011, however after starring in Keith in 2008, a film that won five international film festival awards, he concentrated more of his efforts into his acting. He appeared in a recurring role on the TV series Army Wives, and in 2012, appeared as Chris in Chernobyl Diaries. A film that had a budget of just $1 million but went on to earn $37.2 million at the global box office.

The young actor and singer has also voiced numerous animated characters for films, video games, and television series including all of the Alvin and the Chipmunks films, Horton Hears a Who, Kingdom Hearts, and Cartoon Network’s Young Justice.

McCartney returned to his music career in 2013, touring with the Backstreet Boys and launching his own independent label, Eight0Eight Records. In November that year, McCartney inaugurated the label with an EP, In Technicolor, Pt. 1. A full-length album followed and made it to number 35 on the Billboard 200. He also continued his acting with a recurring role as Cooper Finley on Young & Hungry, and an appearance on Fear the Walking Dead and Major Crimes. On the Masked Singer in 2020, he competed as “Turtle” on the third season. His fifth studio album, New Stage, was released in 2021, it included the tracks “Party for Two” and “Kiss the World Goodbye”.
