Jesse grew up around spare motorcycle parts as a child, he developed a love for anything with two wheels and began tinkering around with them. In his personal life, things were not near as smooth as the vehicles in his garage. James had two children, a daughter and a son, with his first wife, Karla, but after theur marriage ended in divorce, he married porn star Janine Lindemulder and they had a daughter, Sunny. Not long after, they also ended in divorce. In 2009, after a bitter custody battle ensued, relating to Janine being jailed for tax evasion.
After the split, Jesse met famed actress Sandra Bullock when she took her godson to tour the set of Monster Garage. Audiences were shocked and surprised when the two eventually married in 2005. Then, after five years of marriage, an affair came to the media’s attention and James made a public apology, stating “there is one person to blame for this whole situation and that is me.”
James reportedly checked himself into a Rehabilitation Center to treat his addiction to sex and in a hope to win back Bullock’s affections, but to no avail as Bullock filed for divorce, which was finalized in June 2010. Although they had plans for adoption as a couple, after the scandal, Sandra became the sole parent to Louis, who she adopted from New Orleans.
James soon after began dating LA Ink’s tattoo siren, Kat Von D. The two became engaged just months later and James expressed came out saying that, “I fell in love with my best friend. An amazing woman who stood behind me when the world turned their backs … My love for her is beyond description. So honored that she said ‘yes.’ Growing old with her is going to be a f*ckin’ blast!” James had found his motorcycle mama, at last. Final last words to some, as his relationship with Kat Von D ended not long after and he began dating Alexis DeJoria, heiress to her father John Paul DeJoria’s billion dollar fortune.
